Full Introduction
Jean Piaget (1896-1980), born in Neuchatel, Switzerland, was a psychologist, best known for his pioneering work on the development of intelligence in children. His studies have had a major impact on the fields of psychology and education. Lev Semionovich Vygotsky (1896–1934), born in Orsha, Belarus, was a Soviet psychologist, emphasized that children’s interaction with adults helps them to develop a variety of social and linguistic skills. Both Piaget and Vygotsky present some very important and interesting views about the human cognitive or mental development, but they also differ in their theories on learning.
