Iconic Char. in Thelma and Louise & Taxi Driver

Full Introduction
A hero is someone who has the courage to do what ordinary people would not do in defending their cause. The hero usually defends a cause that is much greater than him/her. Thus, in paying the ultimate price, the hero stands as a symbol of the cause. In other words, the hero is an iconic figure. Two movies that present classic iconic American figures are "Thelma and Louise" and "Taxi Driver." Thelma and Louise may be considered iconic figures because they stand up against unequal treatment of women in the society. Travis becomes a heroic figure because in rescuing Iris from prostitution, he stands up against the symbols of moral decay that plagued New York in the 1970s.
